Ian's 5th Birthday

Our Ian boy is 5 years old. How are we old enough to have a 5 year old?? Ian has had a great year. He has grown so much. Ian is partly potty trained. He still cannot tell us when he has to go to the bathroom, so that is a challenge. We set a timer all day long for about 45-60 minutes, and then we take him. If he is showing any signs of needing to go before then we take him. He uses a picture exchange program to communicate with us. He can sign more, go, eat and please. Ian can say more, cheese, juice, mom, na ( no), nod yes when asked a question. We are still working on shaking his head no. Ian is a super good listener, loves to do puzzles, color on the white board, play with magnets, go on 4-wheeler rides, read books, watch mickey, drink pop, eat candy, ride horses, swing and play on his ipad. Ian still really loves the water. Ian has worked so hard this last year to be where he is today. He will sit at the table for up to 45 minutes doing tasks. He can cut with scissors and write his name with some hand over hand.
We are so thankful for Ian in our family. He has taught us that showing love needs no words, that the stupid little things in life just don't matter, and to always be happy. He is a huge blessing in our life. We are so excited to see how much he continues to grow in the next year. He will start kindergarten in the fall, and it's going to great for him.
We had a small party for Ian the day before his birthday. We had a fire truck themed party since Ian loves fire trucks and fire extinguishers.

Somehow I missed reading this one! I have to comment because you wrote this so beautifully, I felt the spirit in my heart as I read. Ian truly is a blessing, and I am so grateful for his example to our family. Thank you for being such great parents to him and to Chloe. You're also wonderful examples to me. I sure love you Asays!
