Ian Bullinger Asay

Ian was born Tuesday May 10th at 7:09pm by c-section. He weighs 7 pounds 15 oz, and is 19.5 inches long. Monday morning I had a doctors appointment, and I had dilated to a 3 or 3.5, and my blood pressure was high once again. My doctor told us that because I had this high blood pressure for the last few weeks I could be induced if that was what I wished. I was so ready to not be pregnant, so we scheduled the induction for Tuesday morning. We went in at 6 am Tuesday morning, and they started to prep me for induction. They started pitocin around 9 am, but it didn't seem to help much with dilating. Dr. Minduri decided to go ahead and break my water to see if that would help. Then the contractions started really hurting, so I asked for a epidural around 2pm. (which was amazing to have) They had to keep turning off the pitocin because the contractions were coming on so strong that it was too much for Ian to handle. His heart rate was not were the doctor wanted it. After it was turned off for awhile we decided to try it again, but once again it was too much for Ian. Around 6 pm Dr. Minduri came in and said that he thought that I was not progressing any because Ian's cord was either wrapped around his leg or neck. We then decided that it would be okay to go ahead with a c-section. They stared to prep me for surgery, and they had Ian out not too long after. It was the craziest thing to be awake and feel no pain while my baby was being cut out of me. Sure enough his cord was wrapped around his leg, so it was making it hard for his head to go down far enough in my cervix to help me dilate all the way. It was the best feeling when I could hear my baby crying once he was pulled out.  We are so happy to have Ian here and healthy. I am so thankful for a wonderful doctor, and the amazing nurses I had while I was in the hospital. We just got home yesterday, and things are going great. We have enjoyed having my Mom and sister Sam here for a few days helping out. We sure do love our beautiful baby boy, and enjoy the blessing of having him in our family.
